KISHORE KUMAR FILMS AS A PRODUCER
Luko Churi : A Bengali romantic comedy film which was directed by Kamal Majumdar and was the first film produced by Kishore Kumar under the banner of ‘Kishore Kumar Films’. The major star cast of the film were Kishore Kumar (Double Role), Mala Sinha, Anoop Kumar and Anita Guha. The film was released on 27th June, 1958. The film had total nine songs out of which one song was sung by Hemant Kumar (Muche Jawa Dinguli). This was the first time Kishore Kumar recorded a Rabindra Sangeet, ‘Mayabano Biharini Harini’, for which Kishore Kumar was criticized by few Rabindra Sangeet Singers from Bengal. Inspite of all odds the film was a Golden Jubilee Hit.
Door Gagan Ki Chaon Mein : A Social Drama film which was written, directed and produced by Kishore Kumar. Kishore Kumar’s real life son Amit Kumar was first time introduced in this film. An adaptation of the American film, The Proud Rebel, Film Door Gagan Ki Chaon Mein could not be successful in the box office, but was a highly critically acclaimed film. There were total nine songs in the movie and maximum of the songs are timeless classics now. An all time classic song, Aa Chal Ke Tujhe, was written, recorded and composed by Kishore Kumar himself while the harmonica was played by Rahul Dev Burman in the song.
Hum Do Daakoo: Produced by kishore kumar, this film starred Kishore Kumar and Anoop Kumar in the lead roles. This Film was also written, directed, produced by kishore Kumar. Kishore Kumar was also the music director of the film with Shailendra as the lyricist. The film released in the year 1967 and had five songs in the movie.
Door Ka Rahi: With 11 soulful songs this film is considered as one of the best classics in hindi cinema produced and directed by Kishore Kumar which released in the year 1971. The Music Director was also Kishore Kumar with Ashok Kumar , Tanuja in a pivotal role in the movie.
Badhti Ka Naam Dadhi : Released in the year 1974 it’s a comedy film produced and directed by Kishore Kumar. This film introduced Bappi Lahiri as an actor though the music composer of the movie was Kishore Kumar himself. This film had a friendly appearance of Ashok Kumar, Rajesh Khanna and Shakti Samanta.
Shabbash Daddy : Another comedy movie produced and directed by Kishore Kumar that released in the year 1978. The film had Yogita Bali, Amit Kumar, Mahmood and Madan Puri in important roles. The song by Amit Kumar, Daur-E-Khizaan Tha is a timeless classic.
Chalti Ka Naam Zindagi : After 24 years of the release of the Classic Superhit Film, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, three Ganguly Brothers were seen again in this movie. A Full Family Entertainer, this is the only movie where Mohd. Rafi sang a song under the music of Kishore Kumar, Baand Muthee Laakh Ki, which was sung by Kishore Kumar, Mohd. Rafi and Manna Dey.
Door Wadiyon Mein Kahin: A rare hindi film produced and directed by Kishore Kumar with no songs in the film. Yes, the background score was by kishore kumar himself but it was an experimental movie of Kishore Kumar keeping only the naturals sounds in the film – the crack of feet on snow, the rustling of leaves, the whispering of the breeze which draw attention to the melancholy ambience of the film.
Mamta Ki Chhaon Mein : A beautiful Family Drama which speaks of the love and bonding between mother and son, this was the last film of Kishore Kumar as a Director and Producer. The film was released in 1989 after the sudden demise of Kishore Kumar. Mera Geet Adhura Hai by Kishore Kumar and Main Ek Panchee Matwala Re by Amit Kumar are timeless Classics.
